How does the mentorship programme work?

In short, the Women4Climate Mentorship Programme is a peer-to-peer relationship between an experienced mentor and a mentee in order to enhance the mentees agency and autonomy in a chosen domain. The programme usually runs for 10 months and enables mentees to become part of a global platform consisting of other climate heroines who are part of its network. The mentoring also enables mentees to connect to a powerful network of mayors, city officials, global change-makers and industry professionals. You can find out more about the mentorship programmes active in C40 cities here.

TECH CHALLENGE

At which development stage should my idea be?

We accept applications for projects at any stage, from idea to fully rolled-out concept. Our only requirement is that you have a structured development or business plan, and that you are able to demonstrate the impact you expect to achieve or have achieved.

How detailed should my business plan or development plan be?

Regardless of the stage of development of your project, it is important that we understand:

  • The products or services your delivery, and how
  • Your aim and how you plan to get there
  • Your key partners
  • Your customers or audience
  • Your funding plan
  • Your intended impact and how you demonstrate it

Can projects focusing on mid-size cities apply as well?

The winners will start a residency in one of C40’s host city, like Lisbon, Los Angeles, Stockholm or Tel Aviv-Yafo. There, C40 and its partners will work with the winners to understand the type of support required to deliver the impact objectives of the project. They will then offer this support through the form of acceleration or experimentation programmes, with the collaboration of the relevant city departments.

The project can initially be developed for any city, including a mid-size city. However please bear in mind that the winners will get to experiment their project in one of the host C40 Cities.

What specifically are you looking for in the technical aspect of the application?

We define tech solutions as providing a technical service or product, or heavily relying on it. It can be digital, mechanical or civic technology.

Can I apply if I am not the CEO or founder of my project?

We understand teams might be mixed, however the woman applying will need to be, if not founder or CEO, playing a leading role in the organisation.
