Marine is a Sustainability Manager, Corporate and Investment Property at Frasers Property Australia.
Marine holds a Masters in Environmental Management (University of New South Wales), a Bachelor of Business and Management and a Bachelor of Arts (History). She is a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP), a NABERS and Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) Accredited Assessor, a WELL Accredited Professional and a Certified Passive House Consultant.
Marine is a strong advocate of Australian building rating tools including NABERS and Green Star. She is passionate about green buildings and has a special interest in the impact of the built environment on health and wellbeing of the occupants.
MOTIVATION FOR AND COMMITMENT TO CREATING A BETTER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PLANET
As one of Australia’s largest diversified property owners and managers, my organisation recognised that we have an ethical responsibility to future generations to limiting our carbon footprint across all areas of our business, and across all scope of emissions in order to do our fair share to keep global warming far below 2 degrees Celsius consistent with the commitments under the Paris Agreement.
I love what I do and I am passionate about greening the built environment and making a difference –one building at a time. Sustainability is not just a job for me but a way of life that I practice through minimalism and conscious living.
I am currently leading a company-wide target to be zero carbon by 2028 with a roadmap established in line with Science Based Target.
Our roadmap has recently been approved by Science Based Target, meaning that our target ‘to be zero carbon in development and operation by 2028’, and our approach to get there, is aligned with the latest climate science and has been assessed against a rigorous and globally recognised framework, to align with the 2 degree temperature target set by the Paris Climate Agreement.
Under the approved targets, we have committed to reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% per square metre, and scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 25% per square metre, by 2028. This latter target is particularly ambitious as scope 3 emissions represent 98% of our carbon footprint. We have committed our business to a zero carbon future and recognise that as a property developer and property manager of assets, we have a critical role to play in influencing design and engaging with our tenants in limiting global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius.
