Women4Climate Nur-Sultan 2021

The City of Nur-Sultan is launching a new mentorship programme to support the next generation of women climate leaders. The City of Nur-Sultan will become the 17th city globally and the first city in Kazakhstan and Central Asia to participate in the C40 Women4Climate Mentorship Programme, which will match 10 promising women leaders from diverse fields with established women leaders from across the city, business and civil society.

“I am pleased to announce that Nur-Sultan will be the first city in Commonwealth of Independent States and Central Asian region to join the Women4Climate network. The launch of this programme is especially timely as we aim to reach sustainable development goals at the city-level,” said Altay Kulginov, Mayor of Nur-Sultan. “Environmental sustainability action is one of our priorities. This year we have been working on creating an established environment for pedestrians to decrease the car usage in the capital. We can already see the positive results of this initiative, by observing the drastic increase in the popularity of renovated public spaces.”
