Women4Climate Vancouver

Vancouver Mentorship Programme 2020

“Cities need to take bold action on climate change and Vancouver’s Women4Climate program will add leadership to guide us to a future powered by renewable energy”.
Mayor Kennedy Stewart, City of Vancouver

C40 will contribute to the emergence of the next generation of climate leaders by sharing knowledge and experience through a mentorship program dedicated to women working on climate issues to create a healthier, more sustainable and resilient urban future in C40 cities.

The C40 Women4Climate Mentorship Program matches forward-looking mentors from politics, business sector, international organizations, and civil society with mentees. The mentors will share their knowledge and experiences supporting the mentees to become powerful leaders in their chosen field, including politics, NGOs, business, media and community groups.

Vancouver was the eighth city to launch a Women4Climate Mentorship Program. In its second year, Vancouver is seeking mentees form a diverse range of sectors and backgrounds focused on climate change mitigation. Preference will be given to those focused on Vancouver’s largest carbon pollution contributors (in order of magnitude – buildings, transportation, consumption). We encourage the following to apply: entrepreneurs, researchers, designers, contractors, finance, engineers, geoscientists, educators, environmental anthropologists, politicians, and any woman with an innovative idea focused on accelerating the implementation of low energy urban systems.

The Women4Climate Mentorship Program seeks to encourage diversity, and C40 will welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, including indigenous applications, all nationalities, persons with disabilities, and women, non-binary, gender non-conforming, transgender women, and female-identifying people.
