The Municipality of Quito held a Women4Climate Forum 1 October 2018. The event was organised through the Secretariat of Environment and the Agency of Economic Promotion CONQUITO and under the umbrella of the Women4Climate mentorship program. This was one of the parallel initiatives on the International Conference “ Quito, a laboratory for Habitat III”.
For this event, we had the participation of the Mayor of Quito, Dr. Mauricio Rodas Espinel, and the Secretary of Environment, Verónica Arias. Also, two of our mentees for our mentorship programme in Quito and different speakers presented interesting panels related to climate change, cities and gender. Participants to the event also engaged; they shared their experiences and stories to convey knowledge and inspire citizens to engage in the fight against climate change.
The "Women4Climate Forum" is a fundamental piece to raise awareness among people about the role of women and sustainable issues in cities and the W4C mentees and mentors in Quito are leading the example.
