MOTIVATION FOR AND COMMITMENT TO CREATING A BETTER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PLANET

At the UNFCCC Paris climate conference in 2015, I was surrounded by brilliant, motivated and passionate young people and I was inspired to create a similar network at home. I wanted to work with young professionals because we already hold the vast technical knowledge and skills to transform the energy sector– we run models, draft reports, conduct studies but don’t get to present our work. As a young woman, I was desperate to shift the face of energy, typically a white, male dominated sector and create a space for more diverse voices.

Bright Sparks is a network for engaged, motivated and passionate young renewable energy professionals across Australia. Our mission is to empower the next generation to deliver a clean energy future. Our vision is to build a sustainable network of young people working in renewable energy with the skills, connections and resources to have a voice and be leaders in our sector.

Every aspect of my life is committed to living sustainably and in alignment with my values– I have focused my career in the renewable energy and climate change space. Beyond work, I am passionate about bringing people together, learning new things and sharing inspiration. I also love riding my bike everywhere!
