Project: Bicho di Mamma

I'm Lucia, an Italian based in Barcelona. I have lived and worked for fashion companies and multinationals, first in China then here in Barcelona. After becoming a mum, I started to see my life from a different perspective.  I began to sew and make clothes and accessories for my baby, and then I decided to focus on reusable accessories for everyday life. I'm trying to avoid plastic and all kinds of waste in my family life to do my bit to save our Planet, sharing my eco-friendly creations with people. There is no planet B!

PROJECT

Bicho di mamma is a textile project, and I use mostly cotton and linen. I'm actually trying to search for organic and KM 0 raw materials. All the items are designed and made by me in my small lab in Barcelona. Most items are created as a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic accessories, such as makeup remover pads, reusable snack bags, cotton bowl covers, bread bags, vegetable and bulk food bags...
This project came up from my everyday life experience. I have changed a lot of habits in my life, stayed away from fast fashion, adopted minimalism in my life, searching for less waste ways to do things, re-think, reuse, reduce. Through these accessories, I'm trying to encourage people to start living a more sustainable everyday life step by step.

MOTIVATION FOR AND COMMITMENT TO CREATING A BETTER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PLANET

We are all taking part during the last years, stood and watched our Planet's collapse, all the plastic ended in the oceans and all the climate changes... All those disasters we are generating is made me think about the inheritance we are leaving to future generations, it's not acceptable, and we have to do something to change it.
