Galit is an economist, she holds MBA and M.A in environmental studies, and she is the mother of three daughters. Galit has been working as a project manager within the Israeli high-tech industry and identified a lack of sufficient decision makers' awareness of the sustainability business opportunity.
Based on this understanding, Galit has been working to translate the "sustainability language" into the Israeli business arena, with the goals to open the door for greener business, greener products, greener profits, and greener globe. In recent years, Galit gave courses and workshops for managers and engineers in the field of ‘Design for the Environment’ and works as well as an independent business and environment consultant.
In April 2018, Galit finalized a research at Tel Aviv University about "Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation within the Israeli Business Sector", under the supervision of Prof. Ofira Ayalon (University of Haifa) and Prof. Dan Rabinowitz (Tel Aviv University). Based on the study findings, Galit is now working to promote strategic climate change management within Israeli companies, including the adoption of GHG mitigation and climate change adaptation activities.
MOTIVATION FOR AND COMMITMENT TO CREATING A BETTER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PLANET
Since I've become a mother in 2007, my priorities have changed. Looking forward at the life I wanted my three daughters to have, I couldn't ignore anymore the fact that humanity is overusing earth, and the resulted imbalance, that risks our children future.
Back then, I was working on the High Tech industry, as a project manager with a clear career path. During a relatively short period, my attitude has changed, and I got familiar with the notion of "sustainability". I started learning whatever possible regarding the topic, with the plan to identify the business opportunity it represents, in order to incorporate it within my professional life.
When I shared my new findings with my managers, I found out that they are not familiar with these terms. It became my challenge and passion since then, to translate the "sustainability language" into the business arena, and open the door for greener business, greener products, greener profits, and greener globe. I do believe that the business sector has a crucial role in the environmental transformation, and try to support decision makers to identify the business opportunity that this transformation represents on business terms.
In April 2018, I've completed a research in Tel Aviv University, focusing on "Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation within the Israeli Business Sector". My goal now is to increase the awareness and the accommodation of climate change mitigation and adaptation activities within Israeli companies.
